THE $COOP ON $CHOLAR$HIP$
One of the important pieces of preparing for education after high school is identifying and applying for scholarships to help with the cost. A scholarship can be awarded for many reasons – academic ability, athletic talent, interests, demographics, career goals, etc.
For example, Hart District seniors planning to pursue a career in education may apply for the Backer Family Scholarship. This local scholarship is managed by the SCV Education Foundation and its information can be found on the Foundation’s website.

Teach, Love, and Inspire
Welcoming January has most of us reflecting on this past year and what it means to us. For some, it is time spent with family that we have not seen or have been able to hug in over a year. For others, it is the ending to a trying and exhausting year. Often we get caught up in the minutia of working, taking our children to basketball practice, and sometimes just forgetting to breathe.

A Season of Kindness
The holiday season brings with it a spirit of giving in the form of good cheer, celebrations with family and friends, warmth, and reflection. It also brings to mind the remembrance of grace and kindness. One way to show kindness is to spend time with those you hold dear and our children need and deserve the warmth and kindness of those around them.
The Power of Breath, Touch & Labeling Feelings
Given all the unknowns that we’ve experienced in the past 18 months, we certainly have had practice with mindfulness, consciously or unconsciously. This pandemic has taught us to be open to constant change. But all this pivoting into the unknown has not been without obstacles.
Making the World a Better Place
Are we making the world a better place? Perhaps the SCV Education Foundation needs to ask ourselves that question occasionally. Perhaps you need to ask yourself that question, too.
Year in Review
As the new school year begins, the SCV Education Foundation would like to reflect back on the previous school year. We are proud that we were able to continue with some of our programs and to offer new and inventive ways to support the teachers of our valley.
Back to School
Many Santa Clarita children and teens started the 2021-2022 school year this week. For some, it had been over 500 days since they have physically stepped foot on a school campus. Excitement filled the air on the days leading up to opening day.
